Interested in becoming a member of the ESC community? Depending on your background, there are many options to join the lab:
Potential Graduate Students
Prof. Page-Gould will be accepting new graduate students into her lab (Fall 2012 start date). As a graduate student of ESC, you will gain extensive experience with psychophysiological, neuroendocrine, dyadic, and quantitative methods. You will be able to take on a Principal Investigator role on many projects over your time in the lab to provide you with the publications and independent research experience you will need to begin your budding academic career. Please visit the U of T Psychology Department's Application Page for more information and application instructions. When you are writing your research statement for your graduate application, be sure to mention and explain your interest in working with Dr. Page-Gould.
Postdoctoral Scholars
If you will be completing your Ph.D. within the next 2 years and would like to gain experience with dyadic psychophysiology and neuroendocrinology, send Prof. Page-Gould an email through the Contact Form. Most likely, you will be expected to obtain your own funding so it is important to plan ahead. As a postdoctoral member of the lab, you will develop a research project in collaboration with Prof. Page-Gould and be a Principal Investigator on the project.
Thesis and Supervised Study Students
Senior Thesis (PSYD98) and Supervised Study (PSYC93) students are a vibrant part of the Embodied Social Cognition lab. However, these positions require a lot of work, creativity, and dedication from the undergraduates who complete them. They also require a good deal of work from Prof. Page-Gould. As such, only current ESC Undergraduate Researchers are eligible for these positions. If you are not a member of the lab and want to complete a C93 or D98 with Prof. Page-Gould, then you must plan ahead and volunteer in the lab first.
Undergraduate Researchers (Volunteer)
Unfortunately, the lab is currently at its maximum capacity for volunteer Undergraduate Researchers, who are the lifeblood of the lab operations. However, new positions will be available beginning in the Summer semester of 2012. If you are interested in joining ESC as an Undergraduate Researcher, then please complete the Undergraduate Application by no later than April 24th, 2012 (for a May 2012 start date). Please note that a preference is given toward earlier-year students who can be involved in the lab for a few years due to the amount of training that goes into each Undergraduate Researcher.
Collaborators
Other professors who have overlapping interests with Dr. Page-Gould are welcome to contact her to discuss potential collaborations. Please visit Dr. Page-Gould's Website for more information about her research. In addition to collaboration, Prof. Page-Gould is happy to provide training in psychophysiology and neuroendocrinology to colleagues who are already planning on visiting the University of Toronto Psychology Department.
